We attended the final showcase of PASSME at the headquarters of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. PASSME is a research and innovation project funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme. PASSME aims to reduce unwanted air travel time in Europe by an hour and to make the travel experience less stressful for passengers. Several streams were presented such as Passenger Demand Forecast System, Personalised Passenger Information System, Redesigned Aircraft Interiors and Aircraft Seats, Passenger Experience Lounge and Breakthrough Research on Luggage Flows. It was great to see that some of the innovations were already adopted by some airports.
Today our bagchain gate premiered at Eindhoven Airport with Viggo Handling Services and Transavia. Checking carry-on bags at the gate has become a simple one-step process. Simply scan the passengers boarding pass, baggage tag is printed (eezeetags), tag the bag and DCS is updated. All in seconds. Simple and efficient!
