PTE at Madrid, Spain

Every year, bagchain attends the Passenger Terminal Expo, and last month was no exception. This year, the event took place at the IFEMA in Madrid, Spain 🇪🇸 . As always, the logistics present a challenge, and of course, keeping costs in check is a top priority for us.

So, we decided to load our entire stand into the bagvan and drive ourselves to Madrid 1761 km (1094 miles) one way, from our office at Schiphol to the IFEMA in Madrid. We split the journey into two days, making a stop halfway in Poitiers, France, to rest for the night. Despite the usual traffic jams, the drive was pleasant with some beautiful views along the way. 😎

Once at the PTE, it was as busy as ever, with a steady flow of visitors to our stand. We were thrilled by the great interest in our battery-powered mobile kiosks, especially with the major events scheduled for 2026.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by! We apologize if we didn’t have the chance to speak with you personally due to the crowds. 🤗

Happy King’s Day

Spoiler alert: Today is King’s Day, our Dutch 🇳🇱 national holiday! We officially celebrate the King’s birthday on April 27th, but when it falls on a Sunday, like this year, we observe King’s Day a day earlier—which is today, April 26th, is the day! The dress code? Orange, of course 😉. As bagchain is a Dutch company with orange as our brand color, we proudly wear it every day. Happy Birthday to our King, Willem-Alexander 👑!

Passenger Terminal Expo 2025

Hola Madrid, next week April 8-10 we will be exhibiting at the Passenger Terminal Expo in the IFEMA in Madrid, Spain. You can find us in Hall 10 stand 1543. Check-out our mobile baggage check-in kiosks. And we have some new exciting products coming this spring. Nos vemos pronto, see you in Madrid.

Off-Airport Check-in Trail at Nobiribetsu Station, Hokkaido Japan

From February 4-11, bagchain participated in an Off-Airport Check-in Trial at Nobiribetsu 登別市 station for Japan Airlines passengers flying from New Chitose Airport 新千歳空港 (CTS) in Hokkaido, Japan. In collaboration with FCL Components, we installed a mobile bagchain tag kiosk with a platform scale. Passengers could conveniently check in their baggage at Nobiribetsu station, which was then checked-in, tagged and sent to the final destination.

Remote baggage check-in pilots are becoming more common, helping airports manage peak check-in times and enhancing customer experience.

Special thanks to Japan Airlines, ARTA, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

2024 in pictures, Happy New Year

At bagchain the time flies when you are busy and having fun. We never have a dull moment. So it is difficult to summarise everything we have done in 2024. Some highlights sure, together with Brussels Airlines we checked in 7000+ bags at Tomorrowland. We installed our first mobile kiosks at FraPort Ljubljana. And we started a pilot with our mobile kiosks at Chicago O’Hare International Airport for Air France and KLM. We wish you all a happy, healthy and successful 2025.

Mobile bagchain kiosk pilot Air France & KLM

In September Air France & KLM started a pilot using our mobile bagchain tag kiosks at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Strategically positioned at the check-in lobby, passengers of Air France, KLM and Delta codeshare flights can check-in their baggage and obtain a baggage label at one of our mobile kiosks. Simple, fast and convenient. Agents can also use the mobile kiosks to check-in (oversized) hand luggage. Optimising the check-in flow, the mobile kiosks contribute to a smoother baggage check-in process and better customer experience.

World Aviation Festival Amsterdam

Next week October 8-10, the World Aviation Festival is in our “backyard” at the RAI Convention & Exhibition Center conveniently located just a few miles from the airport and our office 😊. If you are visiting do stop by our orange booth in Hall 5 stand 135. See for yourself why more and more airports and airlines are implementing our mobile kiosks. And also check out our super cool mobile app with all the kiosk functionality connected to a mobile printer. See you next week, or in Dutch tot volgende week!

Check-in baggage with Brussels Airlines at Tomorrowland

For the 12th time Brussels Airlines connects the world to Tomorrowland.

Tens of thousands of festivalgoers were flown to this large scale annual electronic dance music festival, held in the city of Boom near Antwerp in Belgium.

As an extra service Brussels Airlines offers passengers traveling with baggage to check-in their baggage at the special Brussels Airlines Service Desk at Tomorrowland after their festival.

This year bagchain supplied Brussels Airlines the mobile bagchain tag kiosks & app solution. Baggage but also odd size baggage such as tents were checked-in using the proven bagchain solution. Simple, fast, and convenient baggage check-in.

Again, the bagchain flexibility is proven with deployment of the mobile kiosks practically anywhere, also at large scale events. Charged overnight the mobile kiosks run an entire day on one single charge.

Mobile bagchain kiosks for Fraport Slovenia

Last week we delivered our mobile bagchain MPU (Multi-Purpose Unit) kiosk solution to Fraport Slovenia for the use at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. Passengers flying with Lufthansa, SWISS and Brussels Airlines will be able to scan their boarding pass, check-in their baggage and obtain a baggage label at one of the mobile kiosks. Simple, fast and convenient.

Mobility of our solutions is playing a major role in the realisation of the bagchain kiosks. It gives our customers an ease of operations and flexibility with deployment of the mobile kiosks practically anywhere in and around the airport. Charged overnight the mobile kiosks run an entire day on one single charge.

New batch bagchain MPU kiosks

A new batch of our mobile bagchain MPU kiosks are currently being built at our kiosk manufacturer VZ Industries. The bagchain kiosks are modular and can be equipped with all kinds of options such as weighing scales and/or large monitor displays. Quite a lot of parts are needed to build an entire kiosk. On the picture you can see the raw materials that are needed for the kiosk, such as the kiosk body, weighing platform, monitor bracket and kiosk doors. Next stop for the materials will be the paint shop 😊 . These MPU kiosks are going next month to our new customer in Slovenia 🇸🇮 .
